June 10th is National Herbs & Spices Day!

To celebrate, we are launching a few of our favorites into the spotlight!

First up-parsley! Parsley is one of our favorite herbs and key ingredient in our green juices. We love parsley for its potency- this highly nutritious green herb is extremely rich in vitamins and minerals. In fact, parsley is actually packed with even more vitamin C than oranges! So next time you are stuck at home with the flu or a cold, remember to add some fresh parsley as a garnish to your chicken soup.

*Quick juicing tip: To more easily juice parsley, wrap it in several leaves of romaine lettuce or wedge it between two chunks of apple or cucumber. This ensure those delicate parsley leaves and stems yield the most juice.  

Now for the spices. If you are a regular cleanser with us or a fan of our nut milks, you may already know that cinnamon and cayenne are two of our favorite spices. Cinnamon, extracted from inner tree bark, is a circulatory stimulant, digestant, diuretic, antibiotic and anti-ulcerative. Cayenne, a hot red chili pepper, is an anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-allergen, circulatory stimulant, and digestive aid that may even help with migraine prevention. How can you go wrong?! Add a 1/2 tsp a day of each to boost your health!

*Fun fact: We make our own cayenne flakes! In the late summer months, we buy loads of fresh cayenne chili peppers direct from the fields of Oak Hill Farm of Sonoma. We then dry them in-house and then grind them ourselves! We make enough cayenne flakes to last us until the following summer.
